Twisted Noodles was founded in Durham, North Carolina in April 2006 as a full-service restaurant. Our Executive Chef and mother, Somkid Somchai is a 35-year cooking veteran originally from Esaan prefecture in Thailand who had spent most of her life in California. Originally, we set out to do fusion Thai cooking, but, at that time, there was not any standard of the traditional Thai cooking. So, we decided that we would put the traditional home style cooking on our menu. We strive to make a difference in our surrounding communities by providing a healthy food alternative to the ordinary fast food that we all are accustomed to.
With its successful launch of our first location in Durham, we opened our second location in Chapel Hill, NC in 2009. Our philosophy is simple, “We are cooking our food fresh and healthy, one dish at a time!”
Twisted Noodles has many dishes that are sure to please whether you are the vegans, the
vegetarians, the gluten free, the spicy or the mild. We make everything fresh to order one dish at at time. Which means you can choose to add or leave anything out of your dish. Your customized Thai dishes at your own command. Our all-time favorites and chef recommendations are Drunken Noodle Roast Duck, Thai Chili and Basil Calamari, Glass Noodle Shrimp Pad Thai (0 carb noodle with Gluten Free Pad Thai sauce), Black Pepper Garlic Scallops, Vegetable Medley Tofu and Peanut Salad. With such variety, there is a dish sure to satisfy everyone!
